Ethan Marcus is currently a Fulbright Research Scholar in Athens, Greece working to document the unique liturgical traditions and customs of the Romaniote Jews of Greece. He grew up in the Greek and Turkish Jewish community of New York and wants to spread the word about the incredibly rich customs, foods, language, and culture of Greek and Sephardic Jewry in America. He is a recent graduate from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
Despite facing racism themselves, Sephardic Jews were, and still are, not immune from perpetuating systems of racial oppression.
