Watching the current situation unfold in Israel has been extremely difficult on many levels. I don’t have words for what it was like to watch the brutal massacre of Israelis, and the almost instantaneous uptick in antisemitism globally. It has been especially hard as an Asian American Jew to witness people and spaces I once looked to for safety and comfort as an Asian person show me that I was not welcome or safe in them as a Zionist Jew. I think this is a particularly painful aspect to the current moment for many multi-racial, multi-ethnic, and other kinds of intersectional Jews.
